HOW WE ADRESS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AT BALANÇAS MARQUES

At Balanças Marques, dates like International Women’s Day are never just one more on the calendar. They go much further than that. They are dates with a special meaning that deverse to be addressed in several ways – and throughout the year.

Womens’ Day made its debut on the early 1900’s and it was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977. Today, it still is a date that deserves to be addressed. So, at Balanças Marques, the March 8th is a special day, a different day, whose cause is not limited to its 24 hours, spreading to our everyday human resources policy.

But, after all, how do we address International Women’s Day at Balanças Marques?

1. We have several women in leadership.
At Balanças Marques, we believe in women’s value, in their abilities and commitment – throughout the whole year. Therefore, we have several departments that count on women in charge, like in the Financial, in the Purchases and in Human Resources Departments.

2. We support parenthood.
At Balanças Marques, our employees know they can count on the company for anything – including when it comes to parenthood. Here, we are a Team and, above all, a large Family, where there is room for the children of everyone who works with us. When a baby is born, we offer 500 euros to our employees and, in each school year beginning, we deliver a school kit, which are meant to help them on their journeys as mothers (and fathers).

3. We invest in the well-being of all our employees.
At Balanças Marques, we have a human resources polity that is invested in the well-being of all our employees. The men as well as the women who work with us have access to a group of benefits that intend to help them on a professional but also personal level. Here, we assure internal and external training, we offer the day off on birthdays, we give fruit and water, among other benefits.

4. We offer a gift to our female employees each Women’s Day.
At Balanças Marques, the cause of International Women’s Day is worked on daily, but the March 8th is not overlooked. Every year, we offer a gift to all of our female employees on this day. And 2021 was no exception. Despite the context, at home or in the company, each one got a lunch that, in our Health Year, had the purpose to remind them of the importance of taking time to care for themselves. This is just a symbolic gesture that intends to show them our appreciation for their dedication and commitment and help them address the day with something special.

Always focused on the 17 Goals to Change the World of the United Nation, we are going to keep this path drawn by International Women’s Day and try to contribute to make the world a better place, where gender equality is a reality.
