Balanças Marques was born in Portugal, but it’s been a long time since our multilingual team and our weighing products are all over the world. Today, travel with us through the globe to the main destinations of our exportation!

Our company was born in 1967 manufacturing roman scales for agriculture. But throughout the years it has grown, adding new products to the catalog, and reaching to all the corners of the world. Because of that, our family has expanded too and today works with different markets, cultures, and languages.
We have facilities in Braga and Lisbon (Portugal), but also in Valencia (Spain), in Orleans (France) and Ningbo (China). As the biggest exporter of scales and other weighing equipment in Portugal, Balanças Marques was responsible for 70,1% of the international sales in the field, in 2019. And our weighbridges, our displays, our software’s, our commercial and industrial scales have already reached more than twenty countries in the last decades.
Travel with us to several parts of the world and get to know a little better some of the main destinations of our export.
First destination: France
The country of Eiffel Tower, croissants, and baguettes is also the main international destination of our scales and weighbridges. With a long relationship with our brand, it is, since 2012, the home of our Balances Marques. And in 2019 this market has received more than 50% of our exportation, a determinant factor for us to have been chosen to receive the trophy Troféus Luso-Franceses in the PME category in the same year.
Next stop: Spain
The country of “our brothers” (“nuestros hermanos”) it’s another mandatory stop for Balanças Marques. It has host (and still does) the first international company in our Group – Balanzas Marques – that has completed its first decade in 2021. And nowadays receives about 20% of our exportation, establishing itself as one of our major markets.
Next stop: Chile
On a long flight, leading us to another continent, we arrive in Chile. The south American country occupies the third place on the list of markets where we export the most, with a percentage of 15% in 2019, and it has been one our major investments. For this reason, there, it is already possible to find our commercial BM5 scales working in several supermarket’s chains, as is the case of Tottus and Cencosud.
Last stop: Algeria
And on the last stop of this trip trough Balanças Marques markets, we land in Argelia. More than 1000km seperate Portugal from the country, but, in 2019, this point on the globe has received about 2% of our export, assuming its role as one of the countries that contributes the most for our internationalization, especially outside the European context.
