Know moreIt’s not a secret to anyone that, here, at Balanças Marques, we grab every chance we get to innovate and increase our own know-how. So, when Tottus and Cencosud came to us with a heavy challenge, we got right into action.
Thus, today, both of these companies can count on our BM5 ARM scales, adapted for self-service – the best response they could have had to their new needs in the weighing area.
Who are these clients?
Part of the south-american group Falabella, Tottus is a chain of hypermarkets that owns over a hundred stores located in several provinces of Chile and Peru. It operates as a retailer since 2002 and it is considered to be one of the market leaders in the countries where it works.
Present in countries like Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Brazil, Cencosud is a multinational company that works in different business areas, operating as a retailer and providing financial services, for example. Owner of Jumbo and Santa Isabel supermarkets, it’s the biggest retail company working in Chile and also on of the largest in all Latin America.
With years of experience on the retail business, both these brands have been working towards the goal of growing their respective market share, by investing on innovative solutions that help to provide a better customer service.
What challenge did they present us with?
Besides the constant wish for innovation, these hypermarkets’ recent growth has created the need to invest in new – better and more effective - ways of serving their clients. Both companies intended to renew their Chilean supermarkets and to adapt them to the busy day to day life of their customers, by offering them the possibility of self-service.
Satisfied with Marques solutions, and faced with this new necessity, Tottus and Cencosud decided to trust our company’s products and services once again.
What solution did we present them with?
Having chosen to work with Marques, the two supermarket chains acquired, for that purpose, a total of 356 BM5 ARM scales, one of our best-seller models.
With adaptations specially made for these Tottus and Cencosud’s projects, some of these scales are meant exclusively for self-service and, therefore, present an user-friendly interface that allows the supermarket’s customers to use them in an easy and intuitive way. Following the groups’ requirements, our products are ready to operate with the systems applied in each company, through the Marques APP BMGest, and are also equiped with a software that allows the several apps used in theirs stores to communicate with each other.
The solution presented by Balanças Marques has thus revealed to be a great response to the two retailers’ challenge. Developed in close proximity with Tottus and Cencosud, the special adaptations made to our BM5 ARM are able to satisfy both companies’ needs and meet all the requirements of the Chilean market. For that reason, and as a part of its expansion and renovation plan, Tottus intends to use solely Marques scales in its new supermarkets and it even wants to replace some of its weighing equipments, on the most emblematic stores, a very positive sign about the trust they place on our company.
